ARBEQUINA EVOO FROM THE TORREVELLA ESTATE

Arbequina extra virgin olive oil is characterized by its fluidity and extraordinary fragrance. It is a very fruity oil, with a light apple flavor, herbaceous green notes, very little bitterness or spiciness, and a sweet taste.
It is a smooth and very fluid arbequina olive oil, with specific attributes being green almond, almond, and the flavor of freshly cut grass.
Regarding its acid composition, Arbequina olive oil has a high content of oleic acid and a high level of polyunsaturated fatty acids that give it its characteristic fluidity.
Arbequina extra virgin olive oil has a medium content of vitamin E (α-tocopherol) and a medium content of total polyphenols, which gives its oils a smooth and sweet flavor. The resistance to rancidity of oils from the "Arbequina" variety can be considered medium.

DESIGNATION OF ARBEQUINA EVOO

The Arbequina gets its name from its area of ​​origin, probably near the town of Arbeca in Lleida.

IMPORTANCE IN OUR CULTIVATION

It is the most important variety at Finca Torrevella, where it occupies
more than 20 hectares.

AGRONOMIC CONSIDERATIONS

Of reduced vigor, with an open habit and medium-high canopy density. It is considered self-fertile. Early entry into production and high and consistent productivity. The oil yield for Arbequina extra virgin olive oil is high and the quality of its oil is excellent, although it exhibits medium stability.

MORPHOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS

Leaf : Black when mature. Small, spherical, and symmetrical. The apex is rounded and lacks a nipple. The maximum cross-section is circular and slightly displaced towards the base.
Average pulp/bone ratio.

Fruit : Ovoid and symmetrical shape. Rough surface, with seven to ten fibrovascular grooves grouped along the suture. The base and apex are rounded. The latter has a mucro. The maximum transverse selection is circular and centered.
